The Société

The Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) is a government agency that comes under the authority of Québec's Minister of Transport. The SAAQ is governed by a Board of Directors. The financial year of the SAAQ ends on the last day of December of each year.

The SAAQ is responsible for enforcing the Automobile Insurance Act and the Highway Safety Code and, in accordance with agreements set forth in the Code, it oversees the partial enforcement of seven other laws.
