Penalties

Use of any type of hand-held device with a telephone function has been prohibited while driving. Committing an offence under this law will result in the following:

• a $ 80 to $100 fine;
• 3 demerit points.

Other fees may be added to the fine provided under the Highway Safety Code (contribution to the IVAC crime victims compensation program, registry fees, etc.).
