Pedestrian Safety

The potential causes of accidents involving pedestrians and vehicles have been well documented over the years. Carelessness, inattention and distraction on the part of drivers and pedestrians are the principal reasons accidents occur, regardless of the severity of injuries.

In its awareness efforts, the SAAQ reminds the public about their respective responsibilities. Pedestrians and motorists have a responsibility to help reduce the number of victims. Patience and courtesy towards others help reduce conflict.

The SAAQ also contributes to improving safety in schools zones through its adult and student school safety patrol programs.
