An Awareness-Raising Simulation
Since 2008, the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) has been a partner of an Operation Red Nose program entitled Buckle Up! This program is an interactive conference that aims to raise awareness among youth and the general public about the importance of wearing a seat belt. Various seat belt-related topics are covered, including the risk of being ejected from the vehicle and objects flying freely around the passenger compartment. To illustrate these dangers, the conference uses an innovative awareness-raising device: the rollover simulator. Participants witness a simulated accident where the vehicle rolls over so they can see for themselves what can happen if they don't buckle up.
This program is available to all police forces in the province by contacting Operation Red Nose.
Buckle Up! was created by Operation Red Nose, in collaboration with the SAAQ, Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy and other partners from the Québec city and Chaudière-Appalaches regions: the city of Québec, Engrenage provincial inc., Dumont pièces d'auto inc., the Coopérative des techniciens ambulanciers du Québec, the Sûreté du Québec, and the municipal polices forces of Québec, Lévis, Saint-Georges and Thetford Mines.
