Registering a Vehicle Purchased from an Automotive Dealer

If you are purchasing a vehicle from an automotive dealer, go to an SAAQ service outlet with proof of identification, preferably your driver's licence, and the form Attestation de transaction avec un commerçant duly completed by the automotive dealer.

• If you do not have a driver's licence, contact the SAAQ to find out which documents are required;
• If you are buying a new vehicle, you must have on hand a description of a new vehicle form;
• If you are buying a used vehicle, you must have the prior registration certificate, bearing the signature of the former owner and the automotive dealer;
• Are you under age 18? You must have a written authorization (PDF) from your father, mother or legal guardian.
