The SAAQ is no longer issuing the driver’s licence Plus. However, the licence Plus will remain valid and continue to provide its holder with the same privileges until its expiry date. Once it expires, licence Plus holders will be required to have a regular licence if they wish to drive, and a travel document (passport, NEXUS card, etc.) if they wish to cross the US border. It is no longer possible to replace a lost, stolen or damaged licence Plus. This also applies to any changes that would require issuing a new licence Plus, such as adding or withdrawing a condition or a class of licence.
Important: You must activate your driver's licence Plus as soon as you receive it.

Who can use this online service?
You have received your licence Plus in the mail. Before using this licence to cross the U.S. border, it must be activated to become valid.
After activating your licence you must, however, wait 24 hours (or one business day) for the activation to come into effect before using your licence Plus to cross the U.S. border.
You can use our Online Services to check if your licence Plus is valid (active), following the same process you used to activate your licence. A message will indicate if your licence Plus has been activated: if so, it can then be used to cross the border.
