Vehicle that has been in storage for more than 12 months or discarded

To put a vehicle stored for more than 12 months back on the road:

• it must undergo a mechanical inspection at an SAAQ-approved facility;
• you must go to an SAAQ service outlet to have it licensed for road use.

Bring these documents:

• identification or the registration certificate for the vehicle;
• a mechanical inspection certificate showing that the vehicle meets standards.

Vehicle that has been in storage for more than 12 months
A stored vehicle must be licensed for road use no later than the day before the anniversary date of storage to avoid being subject to mechanical inspection.

For example: a vehicle placed in storage on November 3, 2006 must be licensed again by November 2, 2007 to avoid the requirement...
